Issue/Introduction

Uninstall wily on CA PM

It appears wily was somehow added to the CA PM implementation and ended up writing log files to wily directory which filled up the disk.
The customer does not have APM so not sure how this happened.
Can we uninstall the wily that comes with CA PM?
I could find the procedure to add wily implementation but not to remove.

By Default, the CAPM install includes the Application Performance Management (APM) agents to allow for additional monitoring of your environment.

Uninstall APM Wily Agent from DX NetOps Performance Management Portal, Data Aggregator and Data Collector.

Environment

All supported DX NetOps Performance Management releases

Cause

The APM Wily Introscope agents in DX NetOps can cause high java heap usage.

Resolution

To disable the APM integration on the different systems follow these steps.

  1. On the Portal host:
    1. Edit the wrapper-user.conf file for the four services. Within each comment out the lines for Wily. Save the changes when completed.
    2. The wrapper-user.conf files are located in (default paths shown):
      • Console service (caperfcenter_console): /opt/CA/PerformanceCenter/PC/conf
      • Device Manager (DM) service (caperfcenter_devicemanager): /opt/CA/PerformanceCenter/DM/conf
      • Event Manager (EM) service (caperfcenter_eventmanager): /opt/CA/PerformanceCenter/EM/conf
      • SSO (caperfcenter_sso) service: /opt/CA/PerformanceCenter/sso/conf
    3. Restart the four services.
  2. On the Data Aggregator (DA) and/or Data Collector (DC) hosts
    1. Find the custom.d directory (default paths shown below).
    2. In the custom.d directory find and remove the _capm file.
      • All files in custom.d are read, not just those named _capm or _wily.
      • If any other copies or back up copies of the _capm file are left in the custom.d directory, ensure they are deleted.
      • Ensure no files by any name remain in custom.d that reference an entry pointing to the Wily host.
      • The custom.d directory can be found in the following default install paths:
        • Data Aggregator: /opt/IMDataAggregator/custom.d
        • Data Collector: /opt/IMDataCollector/custom.d
    3. Edit the IntroscopeAgent.<System>.profile file.
      1. Edit the file for the given host being worked on.
        • DA: /opt/IMDataAggregator/wily/core/config/IntroscopeAgent.DA.profile
        • DC: /opt/IMDataCollector/wily/core/config/IntroscopeAgent.DC.profile
      2. Remove the value from the line referencing agentManager.url.1. Ensure nothing is left after the equal sign before saving the changes.
        • The existing line for an enabled agent would like like:
          • agentManager.url.1=<host>:<port>
        • The new line for a disabled agent should look like:
          • agentManager.url.1=
    4. Restart the DA dadaemon or DC dcmd services.

The change is not implemented until services on modified systems are restarted.

See Knowledge Base article How to properly restart the DX NetOps Performance Management environment for additional instructions.
