Spectrum Network Configuration Manager is sending SSH packets to devices on SpectroSERVER startup.

This is functioning as designed.

SSH, a packet being sent to the devices on SpectroSERVER startup, is a feature of Network Configuration Manager. This is done because devices may have upgraded their firmware or had some type of change that would change the device family in NCM that the device belongs to.

When a device has changes made to it, during the SpectroSERVER startup routine, NCM will send out SSH packets to each device to get the SSH version. If it returns a specific value this may or may not have a bearing on what device family the device belongs to.

For example, a Cisco device was running SSH version 1 because that is all the firmware supported. However, the firmware was updated to support SSH v2 while the server was down for maintenance. Upon starting, NCM will get the new SSH version and move the device to the Cisco IOS - SSH Capable family.
